At 6.00pm 1 December we will be celebrating Sung Vespers for the First Sunday of Advent with ecumenical guests from other christian communities in Shirebrook. This Sunday also marks the beginning of the year long initiative ‘The God who speaks’ aimed at fostering a renewed encounter with God in and through the Scriptures. The Bishops of England and Wales have asked us to mark the start of this devotional year with the celebration of Advent Vespers in our parishes.
